I didn't know about Skype (#1)

I didn't realize you can embed a link to directly call someone using Skype, like this: call me.

The html is easy: <a href="skype:skype-username">call me!</a>

You can also use <a href="callto:skype-username">call me!</a> but this may get picked up by a different application.
